Jessica's Baby Shower

So, Jessica was in love with the adorable crib set she had picked for Thacher's room.... I loved it too, so I made it a cake!

This is the Crib set. I wanted it as close as possible, so you will notice the giraffe only has one eye.  I know, the giraffe only has one eye. It's supposed to match the blanket people!  That said, I LOVE how it turned out :)
It's a little hard to tell the detail in this photo :(  The lion's main as well as most of the leaves, and the spots on the giraffe are dusted with shimmer dust, changing the color a little bit, and making it sparkle.  the top of the cake had a green scalloped overlay, and the sides were covered in green and blue polka dots.
I made the elephant to go on the cake but ran out of room, and I couldn't bear to part with him, he was too cute!

Akin's Dinosoars

A last minute gift for a friend,  Akin requested Dino's for his 3rd Birthday :)  The cupcakes were just plain old vanilla with buttercream icing, but the dinosaurs stole the show. T-Rex was definitely my favorite....

Cade's First Birthday Monkey

Cade is a big celebration, everyday.  But when he turned one, oh man. Time to bring out the big guns :)  His monkey birthday party was a hit, even though I took on too much by myself ( no surprise tthere) and ended up finishing the cake at the last minute.  The tables were covered in yellow, with bunches of tropical leaves down the middle, each topped with a bunch of fresh bananas, and a stuffed monkey.  Scattered around the tables were candy bowls of runts bananas and gummy bananas

. The bottom tier was my fantabulous 'Reese's Cake';  a dense and moist peanut butter cake with a creamy peanut butter filling, then iced and filled with a rich chocolate buttercream. mmmm.... and the top tier was equally delicious... fluffy white cake with my homemade buttercream, fresh raspberries, and lemon curd filling.  Oh, so good.
The head was a styrafoam ball covered in fondant, and everything else was edible fondant pieces.

Zahra's 2nd Birthday - Minnie Mouse

All buttercream cake, with fondant hat and dots.  Held up pretty well for being done 2 days in advance and being buttercream :)  matching cupcakes to go with it, with Minnie ears and bows.

Emma Jean's First Birthday Cake

This was Emma's first birthday cake.  I hand made the butterflies out of gumpaste with my own template, and used flower stamens for the antennae.  The goal was to have the butterflies fade from hot pink at the bottom, to white at the top. The cake inside was strawberry cake, cause Emma Jean loves her b's. :)

Mila's Baby Shower Cake

This was made for Mila Marie's mommy and daddy at their co-ed shower.  Mommy's favorite color was purple, and the nursery and shower theme was jungle. They said, "Kendra, do whatever you want."  And this is what happened...
This was my first cake with my molded critters. I think they turned out pretty well, and I really had fun creating their little faces and belly buttons and what not :)

I also used royal icing flowers, fondant leaves, and buttercream grass and leaves to tie everything together.

I have to say, she was my favorite :)

Erik's Graduation cake

 Erik's Speaker Cake

All buttercream with gel and airbrushed details. The woodgrain was definitely my favorite part :)
